Our Story
Melbourne Recycled Timber Floorboards have been reclaiming floorboards from houses and commercial buildings earmarked for demolition since 1991. A family business based in Clayton South in Melbourne's South East, our passion is old timber flooring. We take great care removing what are essentially antique floorboards, ensuring they remain in top condition. The most common timber floorboards reclaimed in Melbourne are Tasmanian Oak/Victorian Ash and Baltic Pine. Occasionally a rare species such as Rimu, Kauri, Hoop Pine or Tasmanian Myrtle may be recovered, although their use was not wide spread.
Melbourne Recycled Timber Floorboards also salvage vintage doors and lights, particularly form the 1920's to the 1960's. We carefully choose old timber doors, especially those with leadlight or acid etching and double door sets. The same care goes into the selection of antique light fittings, with a particular bent to the retro lights of the 1940's and 50's.
We believe in preserving what we can of Melbourne's architectural history and preventing some of the most beautiful building fittings and fixtures becoming landfill. There is nothing quite like the feel and look of vintage timber floorboards, as well as the important environmental benefit of reusing a scarce and valuable resource.
